Where do I stay in California wine country?

After the Unified Conf. in Sacremento I am heading to Napa, St. Helena, Sonoma and Santa Rosa areas to visit as many tasting rooms and drink as much good wine as possible. Any suggestions for nice but affordable accommodations in any of those areas other than the major chains?

just had a couple in the tasting room who said they got a smoking deal at the Sonoma Valley Inn: pay for two nights, get two nights free. not sure if that’s exactly true, but might be worth a call. i imagine that many/most/all hotels and B&Bs in Napa/Sonoma have some smoking deals out there with how light the traffic is right now.

Thanks Paul!

Leslie, browse this amazing thread for Sonoma ideas/plans:

Leslie if you are visiting Sonoma, stop by our new tasting room - we are located at Vine Alley on the Sonoma Square (29 East Napa Street). Soft opening around January 6th.

For hotels in Sonoma the Lodge at Sonoma (Marriott property) is very nice.

For hotels in the town of Napa - the Westin Verasa, Meritage, Andaz and Churchill Manor B&B
