Help with New England fall color trip

We are thinking of getting out to New England for a week of touring and color gazing, mid-October. Interested in recommendations for particular destinations/routes, places to stay (B&B, small hotels, etc.). I’ve been around the area a bit, so have a few notions, but local expertise is always welcome. Thanks for any ideas.

Littleton, New Hampshire. Can’t recall the name of the B and B we stayed at. May come to me later. Supposed peak colors are ALWAYS the first or second weekend in October.

Alan,

For mid October rent a place in southern Vermont or NH, or even western Mass. That way, if it’s a late fall, you’ll be less than an hour’s drive from northern VT and NH to see the peak colors, and if it’s an early fall, you’ll be an equally short drive from Connecticut. As far as where to stay, that’s beyond me. I left New England 27 years ago.

Mohawk Trail to the Berkshires

Ron, is there a start/end point you suggest for that drive?

Are you flying or driving into the area?

Fly into Boston, drive from there. I like your suggestion, because then we can stop at Table & Vine for “provisions” on the way.

That you can.

This is your beat bet for advice depending on your interests

Bump, any other suggestions for places to stay, anywhere in New England.

I had a good experience at The Inn at Manchester (Vermont). http://innatmanchester.com/

Believe or not, Central Park NYC can be stunning…and convenient to other fun.

Stowe, VT as a base of operations.

Alan - this place was stunning last year at the beginning of OCT… http://thepointsaranac.com from there, we headed east through VT/NH.

Joe, thanks for the rec, even if it is a bit above my pay grade. Looks fantastic!
