Fort Lauderdale food

You’re in town overnight for business. Dining alone; where do you eat? Is there a first rate Cuban restaurant in town? Staying at the Westin on the beach, and cabbing it, so close to the shore is best. Any ideas?

What type of food do you prefer?

Market 17 is my regular and favorite spot by far. Great good, good wine list, BYO friendly

He mentioned Cuban in his post.

Billys for stone crabs!

Thanks. I do love Cuban but I love anything good. It’s just that we have no Cuban food worth eating in dc.

But you have to drive to Miami

I’m addicted to Greek Isles. Not at all a wine place but food keeps me coming back.

One more I know others like, but have not been personally (yet):

I’m there this Friday and Saturday night for work, Saturday is open if you’re in town.

Two other options not too far from you (then I’ll stop!)

Canyon:

Casa D’Angelo

Sorry, the really good Cuban stuff is in Miami. My only rec would be Padrino’s in Plantation which is about 15-20 mins west of Ft. Laud.

Easy walk, if your Westin is the one south of Sunrise.

This is more Miami focused, but I found it interesting and useful.

The Westin is 4 miles from:

It’s been a while since I’ve been, but it was always excellent. Typical, casual, no-frills barbecue – so maybe not what you’re looking for. But proper low and slow pit barbecue.

I only go every few years and haven’t been in a few. The best meals I’ve had were at Canyon followed by Valentino’s.

My favorite stop is Primanti’s but that’s for a sandwich that’s a taste of Pittsburgh, my hometown.

Bump. Anything new/good opened in the last 2-3 years?

second vote for Catalina. hospitality is fantastic and the food is really good. off the main drag a little bit which is a plus for some and a negative for others. never had a bad experience there though.

last time I was there the owner got my Grandpa incredibly drunk because he kept giving him free sangria. one of the funnier things ive seen in a long time.

1st Choice…Uber to Joe’s…no corkage fee.
2nd…Italian with a “connected” feel…Anthony’s Runway 84…very close to Ft Lauderdale Intl airport

I think the Rustic Inn is a must visit for dinner at least once in a lifetime .
