Looking for recs in Cabo if anyone has anything they are particularly fond of. Restaurants, bars, especially wine!

Thanks!

Best recommendation for wine is to bring your own...

We loved Sunset da Mona Lisa for dinner, and they have a Taittinger Terrace there

Like Alan said above, San Jose. Quaint, clean and good food. If not stay at the One and Only. You only get married once.

Hopefully

We love Agua at Palmilla and the restaurant at Las Ventanas. Las Ventanas also has a great sushi bar with an unbelievable tequila list and the restaurant had Dom by the glass last time I was there ($100/glass though). Sunset da Mona Lisa is a great setting with wonderful views but food was just ok to me.

Renewing this as I am looking for some feedback on where to stay in Cabo for a trip with my wife, no kids on this trip. We have not been. This is for a 4-5 night stay, likely in early July.

Considering:

One and Only Palmilla
Resort at Pedregal
Esperanza
Las Ventanas

Any tips/feedback would be appreciated.

We have a house booked for a week in June with two of my wife's siblings and her dad & gf. Wondering about
Getting to town from the airport? Do I need a car? Taxi? Shuttle? Are there docks where I can buy fresh fish?

I've rented cars without issues. However, have read about many. Keep in mind that you will need to take their insurance which can cost more than the car. This past trip in december, I booked a van to drive us to the first hotel as we didn't need a car yet. Picked one up in san jose the day before we switched hotels and kept it til departure and dropped it at the airport.

Las Ventanas is the best if you don't have a budget. Complete luxury but very quiet and romantic which can be a plus. Wonderful food, decent wines but overpriced and excellent sushi/tequila bar. We got married at Cabo Azul and we love the place. Great value and rooms are fantastic. Food is good but not to level of Las Ventanas. I've stayed at all the ones you listed and you can't go wrong with any of them but my vote is for Las Ventanas if you can stomach the price and Cabo Azul if you aren't looking to see how much money you can piss off:)

Las Ventanas is in my top 3 places ever. Hospitality - perfect. Service - fantastic. Setting- gorgeous. Extras(food, drink, pools, spa) - amazing. Definite major pampering - is $$$$

You won't be disappointed !!

We generally just stay at the resort the whole time (so we pick resorts we're willing to do that at). I personally have not had a meal in town that I think is worth the hassle. A couple of years ago we did have a very nice meal at Toro, but we were staying at Esperanza so it was just a quick golf cart ride up there. Not sure if I'd say it's so great that I'd travel from another resort.

I *love* the One & Only Palmilla. I'm also eager to stay at the new Montage down there. I do enjoy the towns, but we now pretty much stay on resort. The dining is good (if pricey) and it's so easy.

Ryan,
Does the Palmilla have a swimmable beach? We are booked to go there in a few weeks. I also looked at the Montage, being familiar with the location from its Twin Dolphin days, but decided on the Palmilla because I've been told that its beach is better. Thanks.

We stayed at the Montage last time, and we liked it quite a bit. We are pretty devoted Montage fans, though (their general style fits with our preferences). The beach is nice, but I haven't stayed at Palmilla so I can't make a comparison (I've heard great things about it, though).

Yes, the Palmilla has a swimable beach--it's not huge but it's quite nice and usually pretty empty. You can usually just grab a cabana on the spot and, for free, check out paddle boards, sailboats, etc. More generally, the Palmilla's location is phenomenal--right on a point flanked by two beaches. The southern (larger and more picturesque) beach is not swimmable; the northern beach is swimmable.

As to the Montage, I have had great experiences in Laguna and Deer Valley. And I'm all for the arms race of luxury Cabo hotels these days. Everyone wins--especially with a 2hr flight from Houston.

FWIW, I've been to every currently open Montage except Palmetto Bluff (not counting the Pendry line). My favorite is Kapalua Bay, then Laguna, then probably a tie between Deer Valley and Los Cabos (obviously incredibly different experiences, of course).

Roasted near downtown Cabo is my favorite. It is a small stand alone restaurant that grills over wood. The shortribs were spectacular.

Lots of great resorts in Cabo, to piggy back on some of the other comments besides Las Ventanas, One & Only and Montage I would HIGHLY recommend The Resort at Pedregal. Little bit more Mexican styling but I've yet to meet someone who stayed there and didn't love it.
