Do you know if a phone picture of the vaccine card is sufficient or should I be sure to pack the card itself? Maybe better safe than sorry...

Went dinning at a few NYC places this week, they all accepted the Excelsior pass as proof of vaccine, either a printed version of it (as one of my dinning companions used) or a virtual mobile one.

Sorry, I couldn't quite parse that. Does that mean a phone photo on its own if fine or that you also need the NY app (which I can't get since I live in NJ)?

(Not me. Already busy at dumpling fryer. Need to work for my dinner.)

Jay, I'm dinning out again tonight. While not PDH, I'll inquire at that restaurant to try to get you a more concrete answer with how NY restaurants are dealing with out of state guests. I assume just a picture is fine.

Just erring on the side of caution based on the rules for NYC establishments. I have yet to contact the restaurant as of yet. We have some time...

Jay,

Dined at Noz last night and talked to the folks there about proof of vaccination. They do accept just a clear photograph as proof of vaccination, no need for the physical card. There's also the NYC Covid Safe app that is open to all (NY residents or not). They said most restaurants are accepting the same. Hope that helps.

I didn't know the app was available to non-NY residents. Thank you!

Do note that there are to NY apps:

The Excelsior Pass app is the state's secure and verified proof of vaccine app, which is only open to NYS residents.

The second, NYC COVID Safe, is a simpler app that been made by the city that just lets you upload a picture of your ID, vaccine card, and/or latest COVID test results. It's open to everyone.

Unfortunately, if we move it it will have to be in November. I understand if people want to bolt, no worries $375 versus $65+ tax, tip. No worries if people cannot make it. There will be others.

Also, if no one else chooses table themes should we start an unthemed table assignments? Only 3 tables have started so far and we theoretically have 35 people. Not sure if Jay H. will find 5 other people with SQN to bring.

Mike Reff wrote: October 4th, 2021, 9:24 am So, I want to apologize about the start time, I had originally stated 5pm way back when this thread first started. Now I said 6pm and someone brought up to me that I had originally said 5pm. So now to be fair, I am reverting back to 5pm. Sorry about the confusion
Does this qualify for the Old-Timers, senior citizen, Early Bird discount? [wow.gif]

5pm is even better. In the past it's taken some time for people to settle in and get started.
Ripe fruit isn't necessarily a flaw.

1. I do not care about the start time. I can always have a pre-session mini-fest in my office around the corner.
2. If you want, I will change the theme of my table to "California Cult Rarities." Here is the line up we had for the Westchester Wine Collector Dinner a few weeks ago:

The only rule is that if someone comes by and asks, "I always wanted to taste the MacDonald/Scarecrow/SQN/Saxum; may I have some?" and they offer up a premoxed Corton Charlemagne or some of that swill that Brad Kane and Jay Miller love so much, they will be photographed and added to the Wineberserkers Hall of Shame gallery.

I needs a table. The AFWE and SQN tables have set the bar strikingly high.
