Mike P - not quite local in northern San Diego County, but only about 45 min away from Dana Point so easy for me to make the trip up there. That's a long way out on the calendar, but looks good at the moment!

Cheers,

Steve

Hi Mike. We have done a few dinners here now, most recently we did an offline here and they treated us well and want us to return. https://www.maisondanapoint.com/

11/8 is way out on the calendar and would be interested. 8PM though sounds late for my old bones, however.
My WOTY candidates for 2019:
2014 Marie Courtin Eloquence BdB Extra Brut
2017 Rivers-Marie PN Platt SC
2017 Kutch Pinot Noir SC PN
2009 Roederer Cristal Brut
2017 Carlisle Zin Mancini Ranch RRV

My best wines of 2018:
2017 Kutch Falstaff Sonoma Coast PN
2012 Marguet La Grande Ruelle Ambonnay

Kindness matters.

Frank, if it could work, we can do earlier. No way I miss hanging with you.
Todd, hope so this time.
Steve, sounds good.

I am actually in the Capistrano beach area, close to Dana and on Coast Highway.
Looking forward. I love Orange County in the Fall.

Maison is 5 mins probably from your pad in Cap Beach. Stay in touch and I can help with logistics if you like.

New plan: I am staying in the pier bowl area in San Clemente for those 4 days. One block from pier. Stoked I am. Love it there. May take up surfing......

May join you if Im around As its Any easy 25 minute ride from North county SD. Heres a tip.

Two restaurants, Nicks (american fare) and South of Nick's (high end Mexican) both very good and free corkage on first bottle! Oh yeah, Butter Cake. Don't ask questions, just order it for dessert. Fine to split but you may order a second

Mike, last time I Called, Nick’s only allowed 3 bottle max.

Dave, do you know someone over there who might allow us to bring more than 3?

I don't Andre. I always meet my buddy who lives by SNA as it's the midpoint. We usually sit at the bar and each bring a bottle so it's just two.

I'd be fine going elsewhere if it works better

I called Vine in San Clemente.
Spoke with the manager (Gabe) already and he is OK if we to bring more than 3 bottles.
$20 per.

I called Nick’s (again), and the manager still would not allow more than 3. I guess they don’t want our business.

Pierside kitchen only allowed 2 max.

Vine looks fine.
Joe, I am thinking an open theme with a lean towards US. (If a Barolo showed up, I would not complain....) champagne.gif

As much as I like Nicks I think it works best for 2 to 4. Hopefully Mike can enjoy another night on his own. Vine should be great choice.

Joe, I'll be coming from La Costa area. How bout you?

Mike, opened a 14 Macdonald a couple months ago. Alex suggested 6 hour decant and he was spot on. Don't know if you have the capability where you'll be but it benefited tremendously from that.

Fyi had dinner at South of Nicks last night. Great dinner but again Butter Cake. Skip the fruit compote or get on side. Just the cake and a scoop of vanilla ice creme. One of the best things ever and make sure to have a meal here or at Nicks

Is there still room for 3 more?

I haven't tried this restaurant yet so I don't know the setup for a good sized group. As far as theme goes do we want to continue a high end Cab theme or go with more variety? If there is room for us I'm open to whatever.
