My name still isn't on the list but I'm hoping to come. I'll just crib the address from someone else.

I can bring some guac again if that's wanted. Or not.

Anymore talk of wine themes? Wines Brad hates maybe?

Odd, isn't it? I am guessing you poured Todd some 2BC at some point [stirthepothal.gif]

Don't sweat it, I don't know the address, either. Just how big can San Clemente be, right? :-)

Todd, we may have a calendar conflict I did not know about - how would it be if we came from about 2-5:30 or so?
Sure, but we’re starting around 2:30 so Jen has enough start on the Clemson game!

Updated, sorry about that - whomever doesn’t have my address PM me and I’ll give it out

Wine theme is clarified in the OP, when I updated the post Monday

Should be an easy drive up on almost empty road (by LA standards) early Sunday morning from San Clemente, no? Sleep is overrated.

Forecast is creeping up a bit - now a high of 81, was 77 or so. Aim late if the weather stays hot, and we'll do an even-later start to keep it cool.

Let me know if you plan to bring something, so I know what to fill in. Will be shopping Friday!

Will bring light jackets, then, will be downright breezy for us :-)

Have a chunk of pork belly in dry rub for 10 days now, smoker tomorrow. Home made bacon. Will let you know more tomorrow, food wise, probably a salad and a main.

Wait, what? You are bringing all that stuff??? Remember I have a bunch of Flannery to grill! However, Rob Winn is coming, and he can eat the meat like it's going out of style!~

We're confirmed in! My wife will only be around for a relatively short while since she's driving us up there and then continuing on to LA afterward (whereas I get to Uber home) but we're both very excited for it!

If I am not too late and if here is still room I would like to attend. I am not much of a cook, but I could still bring something. Perhaps spring rolls (not fried)? Or I can make a decent hummus. Let me know.

Either sounds awesome - will be PLENTY of meat for the grill, as I have a huge zabuton and two tri-tips, plus Greg's bringing stuff.

Would love to have you!! Glad you saw it! Haven't seen you in ages, bud!

Naw. The neighbors cut that down. I just bring it because I know how to make it decent and it's great in the summer.

I can do spring rolls if people would rather and Jay doesn't want to bother. I live near more than one place that makes good ones.

WOW that was fun - incredible wines!! Hope someone got some photos of the wines lined up, as I didn't bother doing it. (

A few special thanks:

To Brig for once again manning the grill, even bringing some of his own gear so he could nail the zabuton. We ate a LOT of Flannery last night! Brig's such an expert he brought a t-shirt to change into after grilling!

To Jay, Jeff, Cris, and Greg, in particular, for their interesting wines. The mag of Shafer HSS was intense - wish I tapped into it later on as it kept changing. The PX was a special treat from Greg.

Special thanks to Joe who decided to come to his first offline and brought my WOTN, very possibly my WOTY, the 2011 Ridge Monte Bello - holy hell that was amazing.

To Chris and Rita and Francine for all their work prepping and cleaning! Made my job this morning a lot easier. This was the perfect size for me. Brad and Cris were reminiscing about the BerserkerFest at my old house about 10 years ago (one of our first) and how it had around 70 people! I can't imagine 1) where all the food and wine would have gone, and 2) where all the PEOPLE would have gone! Maybe I'm just getting old...but 20 is perfect. Still good conversation with everybody, and while it was 'too much' wine, it wasn't 'too too too much' wine :)

Way too much wine, way too much food. The spring rolls were awesome, as was the Thai sausage. Rita's salmon was designed to feed perhaps 100 people and was delicious - I've already frozen several Ziplocs of it. Bruce brought a fresh loaf of bread and it was consumed quickly - particularly when Greg ordered everyone to grab some bread and sop up the blood from the cutting board!
Apparently I'm lazy, have a narrow agenda, and offer little in the way of content and substance (RMP) (and have a "penchant for gossip" -KBI)

We're confirmed in! My wife will only be around for a relatively short while since she's driving us up there and then continuing on to LA afterward (whereas I get to Uber home) but we're both very excited for it!
True berserker! All you need need is a ride there, the rest will work itself out.

Nice meeting you and Amy. Monte Bello, amazing.

Forecast is creeping up a bit - now a high of 81, was 77 or so. Aim late if the weather stays hot, and we'll do an even-later start to keep it cool.

Let me know if you plan to bring something, so I know what to fill in. Will be shopping Friday!
Just please no Speedos. [snort.gif]
I didn't know you were "that" michel! Dang, it. Great to finally meet you and Brad.

So much fun.

As it did! Also glad Amy ended up staying much longer than originally planned too. That Arcadian was really neat, unexpected. Meat was fantastic too. And of course, thanks for the ride home!

Todd, thank you for inviting us into your home and putting this on in all of its ridiculous glory!

Great wines - I certainly didn't expect to see the '96 Shafer HSS mag! 1983 Beringer merlot was great and I enjoyed the champagnes a lot too.

Thanks again to Todd & Jen for hosting. Some wonderful food (how can you go wrong with Flannery?), and now we've all learned to use bread to sop up meat juices! Who knew?

Plus good people and good tunes; a most excellent Saturday night. Thanks!

What a fun time! Big thanks to Todd and Jen for hosting and to everyone that came out and brought wonderful food and wine! It was so nice to see old friends and to put names to faces of Berserkers I hadn't yet met.

I posted some pics on Facebook. When I get a chance, I'll add some here. I've been busy birding much of the time out here and with limited cell service part of the time.

I ended up on the wrong side of the tracks, so I had to decide whether to run in front of the train as it arrived or wait and run around the back, climb onto the platform, and hope they wouldn't leave without me. I chose to run around the back, which as it turns out was the wise choice.

The super-duper, handy navigation app got us TO the train station in SJC, but put us on the street just to the west of station and across the tracks just as the
train was arriving. Michel hoofed it across the tracks and managed not to get mangled. Good recovery.
