If attendance reaches 40, everyone has to bring a 3L.

Hi Dan,

I hate to do this on my first event, but I just got a call moving my cataract surgery up to next week, and I won't be able to join the dinner on Monday. I'm sorry for backing out, and if there's any issue over the number of attendees, I'm more than happy to pay for my meal.

I hope I can join in the next event, and I'll miss meeting everyone Monday (although I'll be glad to be able to see you all better when I finally do!)

I think you should pay for your meal. In theory if you had attended, you ordered an entree, soup, salad, four appetizers and three desserts, and you ordered a bottle of Champagne off their list and drank it by yourself.

Also I'm asking you to reimburse me for my overpayment at Paul Martin's.

I think that's more than fair, George. In the spirit of friendship, I will also include the outstanding funding for the bullet train, as well as some funds of mine which are currently being held in Nigeria. Please send me your SSN, bank routing information, PIN number, DOB, and other relevant passwords - I will take care of this forthwith!

Dan and others, instead of paying for George’s meal, get him a gift certificate to Paul Martins for the difference. Pretty sure you can probably get a discounted one at Costco 😂.

Los Gatos is pretty far for almost everyone, even me from Fremont. There's an italian restaurant in Palo Alto, on California, that I frequent, and know the owners a bit (Terun). They have let me do a smaller wine dinner in the past, and would probably be fine doing that with this group. They have a large covered outdoor space in the back, and I'm sure we could work out a Monday dinner with them no problem.

Limiting the number of participants is a bit unfriendly, but large groups are also more difficult to manage, find venues, and just have a more intimate experience with the wines and people.
Terun would be a fine choice!

I just realized it was Terun I went to a couple of weeks ago with Steve Weiss. Owner or manager sat and chatted with us a few times, very likeable. They can easily accommodate us in the back tented room, maybe even on a Tuesday. Loved that restaurant. Very strong vote for a dinner there.

+3 Went a few weeks ago and had a nice time. Doesn’t seem like a place that would waive corkage due to the fact they always seem busy. But worth a try!

They will wave corkage for us, I'm fairly sure. If not, we can work out some kind of good deal with them. We are frequent diners there, they take great care of us.

The stems are excellent. They'll gladly let you use theirs. Still better if we bring as many of our own, given the break they give us for corkage.

Love Chanin, wrote a long thing about him on Berserkers a few months ago, just bought some older ones on Winebid this week, never had Duvarita

Nigl, Huet, Potel, GPL all great, everything else really good as well! Fun dinner.

It was a tough night for reds. Overall WOTN was '07 Huet Franc de Pied Sec. Reds: '95 GPL and '01 Pape Clement from magnum. Oh yeah, '06 Taittinger Comtes de Champagne is always a winner.
