Due to the generosity of. Gladstone Imports, we have five of these to celebrate whatever, including The Count's 40th birthday.

What? No chocolate cheesecake??? Getting lazy in your old age!

Truly looking forward to this event.
I can't decide between chocolate cheesecake and chocolate dipped bacon.

Ps. The piano is being tuned on Thursday and I think the organ works. You can do a duet with any other talented berserker.

Go with chocolate dipped bacon; it's kosher.

I may have to adjust the menu. I just received a recipe by email from Coppola wines - Carb Free Fried Chicken, using crushed pork rinds instead of bread crumbs. It makes chocolate covered bacon look normal.

I forgot about that! Yeah, Zack and I could whip up a Happy Birthday to remember. Great, thanks for taking the trouble to tune it, Jay. I will do lots of playing.

The kosher chocolate bacon would be an acceptable substitute. So say all of us.

2002 Valandraud Kosher. JLT told me at that dinner at Crabtree's that he made it as an homage to his father, who was a butcher in WWII who snuck meat to the Jews who were hiding from the Nazis in the woods outside of his home town. Unfortunately, I drank my bottle at a seder years ago.

You can get Lobsters at Stew Leonard’s for $6.99, so that just leaves the Redsox. If you had been to one of Jay’s Bacchanalian events, you would realize that the Redsox are a very poor substitute, especially the clobbered Redsox.

Thanks for the encouragement, guys, but this trip is long set up. Owner's seats at the Yankees/Red Sox game. Every breakfast, lunch and dinner, plus a day long excursion to my beloved North Shore with an old friend or 2 or 3...it is all set up.

I'll make it to one of these deals sometime....

!!!!! We are locked and loaded on 6 3-inch thick dry aged Porterhouse that we will pick up Friday from the processor. So there well be plenty of food after the two smoked briskets and two smoked pork shoulders. And the vegetarian apps.

I am sorry dear, but age is undefeated and despite my childish behavior, I will be 68 this September. Every time I do this, it takes a big chunk off the back end, and I don't have that much left on the back end. You'll just have to get in that car on Friday and drive from Cleveland to NY. And then there's the airplane alternative.

Sounds like a plan. I'll have to add another cup of stock to the risotto. I guess the decision to get 8 giant porterhouse instead of only 6 as the palate cleanser before dessert was a good choice.

I was going to bring multiple bottles of 750s but at a big event that can be a little frustrating as only a limited amount of people will be able to sample each selection , which is not the worst thing as there will be plenty of other great wines. Therefore as a few have mentioned I think anyone who has Mags this is the perfect them to crack one. I do have a Mag of 2007 Kutch Kanzler Vineyard Pinot, and which considering how much folks enjoy Jamies wines will be my pick for one of my bottles. I will also bring a 2nd bottle of an old world wine tbd determined closer to the date.

I am going to set up some tubs of cold water with weighted down styro dividers in them to try to keep bottles from overheating in the sun. I will see what I can do about magnums. I might have one or two magnum styro two or three pack shippers.

So, now I have to be in White Plains on Saturday. I think I'll load up a mag of '10 Pride Cab Franc and head over to renew a few acquaintances and meet so many folks that I only know as names.

I think I've arranged with Jay to set up a mini-horizontal of Ritchie vineyard Chards. I'm bringing--or having brought--a Ramey, Chateau Boswell and Arista, IIRC...I left the last two with Count some time ago ;)

I'm bringing 37.8 pounds of dry aged porterhouse, picked up from the dry aging facility this afternoon.

Plus a couple bottles of wine from the cellar if nothing good shows up.

I am decanting a couple of older wines before I come. Highly recommended after a lunch yesterday with some seriously cloudy wines.

Dessert wines tend to get lost in these shindigs. Is it worthwhile bringing Port?

Champagne, Riesling and sherry in tow.

And a cooler in case you need an extra.

And some cookies.

Wow! Nice image of Jay!!!
He seems to be in a trance-like state, channeling ancient Viking spirits.
Is he whipping up the Berserkers to a frenzy to kick off the fest?
Or maybe chanting to celebrate good fellowship, wine and food?
Good stuff.
An aged man is but a paltry thing,
A tattered coat upon a stick, unless
Soul clap its hands and sing

Thank you Jay. Wish I could have stayed longer, but it was really nice to get together with so many old friends, and a few new ones too.

Thank you Jay and Rebecca, for being such gracious and entertaining hosts. And fellow NY area Berserkers, I am glad I finally got to meet you all! The camaraderie, top notch food, and the bevy of outstanding wines was dizzying. Hard to pick a wotn, but if I had to, it would have been a tie between the 1970 ports. And special thanks to the Hammer for the transport!
