Winetasters’ Society of Toronto is holding its Annual Holiday Party on Wednesday Dec 12th. We are at historic Osgoode Hall again, which is perfect setting for this seasonal party.
Details are in the following link but, for those who don’t know, in brief: its a walk around tasting of spectacular wines from our cellar (just a couple of examples: Ch Lafite 1988, Guigal Cote-Rotie La Turque 1988, Ornellaia 1998, Vouvray Moelleux Bourillon d’Orleans 1970, Madeira Malvasia Reserva Velha - Barbeito 1920 and more …). Following the successful format of our 40th Anniversary Grower Champagne tasting, this year we will be offering guests a variety of seasonally focused passed hors d’oeuvres prepared by the restaurant team at Osgoode Hall (not to forget their famous butter tarts as well!)
Twenty years ago, when I was in grad school in Toronto, I was a member of Winetasters. I learned an incredible amount from that society and benefited from it tremendously. At that time, the holiday party was at Casa Loma, which I had only been to as a schoolboy. Congratulations to all of the Winetasters crew for maintaining the society over the years. I wish something like that existed here in Boston.
Tariq, yes Casa Loma was special. But the change in management made it impossible to continue. Osgoode Hall is a pretty good alternate though, and downtown! And the wines continue in the same tradition.
