Please PM me if you wish to get added/removed to list; this will allow for consistent time stamping in case there is overage.

Please put me down for a 2004 Allemand Cornas 'Chaillot'

decant that 13 jamet for 6-7 hours and it'll blossom to something amazing. My bottle started super thin and green. Finished half and corked it up. Tasted it 5-6 hours later and it was amazeballs

Having done a northern Rhone dinner at Racines (with Jay, among others), I think the food works just fine and the corkage is free since it's a Monday.

Don't know if this is something you'd consider but the food at Bite of Hong Kong (esp. the squab) is very N. Rhone friendly.

Racines is always a fine choice though there might be need to check the menu as it can be very seafood-centric.

I think Racines usually have the steak as the option though? Had some lovely lamb there a few weeks ago.

I’m not overly fussy with the restaurant choice so long as it has non pork options. [cheers.gif]

I made a reservation at Batard for 11/19
3 course $79+$15+20% tip+8.5% tax = $121/person all-in. 4 course will be $20 more.
http://www.batardtribeca.com/#food
champagne flute, 3 red stems (which I think will be replaced through night), 1 white stem (replaced as needed) and multiple decanters

On Racines... I am just seeing the suggestions here now after the (I) comment on seafood and (ii) a recommendation for Batard on other forum. Is Batard OK? Re Racine, I did reach out because they seem quite wine friendly, but they did not confirm details on a Monday/giving the stems with out extra fee, etc.

Since I see we still don't have a Champagne I'd be happy to also contribute a bottle of the 2013 Benoit Marguet "Shaman". I picked one up after trying the 2014 at La Fete du Champagne over the weekend.

Is there room left here? I do not know for sure if I can make this, but if there is room and I can make it, I could bring a

1997 M. Chapoutier Ermitage Le Pavillon. And I can explain why there is Braille on the label.

or, if you prefer, I have

2001 E. Guigal Côte-Rôtie Château d'Ampuis

or

2003 Tardieu-Laurent Hermitage
Yes, that's a DM of 1978 Mouton!

Still in. Was originally thinking of bringing a 2006 Gonon St Joseph but considering that 2 others are bring Allemand it makes a lot more sense to bring a bottle of 2010 Chaillot so we can do a 3 btl vertical, unless any one objects . I will also bring a champagne whatever strikes my fancy that day but guarantee it will something very good as I am rapidly starting to expand my champagne section alot and discovering some great ones.

And you are discovering why I largely stopped organizing offlines over a decade ago. All the last minute cancellations, changes, etc. drove me crazy. Thank you for taking care of it.

Speaking of annoyingly picky attendees is there any way we (or at least I) can get white wine glasses rather than than Champagne flutes for the Champagne(s)?

+1 (there's some humor in that). I hate flutes. I prefer burgundy flat bottom glasses but will be happy with a plain white glass, and if that fails, I'll put it in my red glass and just rinse it out.

Although they are all good picks I think the E Guigal would be best choice as it is a bit more classically styled if my research is correct and the Allemands would be fairly.traditional too. Could be wrong as I have not tried some of these

Sorry, but I went with the Pavillon, since I had to bring it from home this morning, I opened it about an hour ago and I am going to double decant now. Smells outstanding.

Fortunately we had tons of great wines and the 2 bookends to it. I have been to so many events that have had a corked wine, that I usually bring a back up btl. even of a different wine, or open in advance decant and sample. Some don't have the time to do this, either way it's all good, as I have never been to an offline that lacked plenty of excellent juice.

Had a great time on Tuesday night. Food was really quite excellent and the wines showed very well for the most part. I don't drink a ton of N. Rhone so it was a really nice entry point into some well known producers. Standouts for me were the Clape Cornas, the Chapoutier and the 10 Allemand with the 04 Allemand close behind.

Btw, the blind was a 2016 Pax Mahle Syrah Cuvée Viticole - special custom blend Pax made with Brian McClintic with some fruit that also was used for the Galloni 100 point Pax Mahle syrah. I think both this wine and the Villard I brought would have both benefited from some decanting to help open up but I enjoyed them both.

Thanks for organizing Shan!

Thanks all for a great evening and to Shan for organizing. Will do better next time on the wine....
It happens to everyone. No worries.
Ripe fruit isn't necessarily a flaw.

Thanks to all for great wine and great conversation. I liked the Chapoutier and the La Chappelle, probably influenced because they were the first red flight and soon thereafter my palate was shot.
