I suggest these options for a poll. Allow up to 3 choices

I prefer Friday the 28th

I prefer Saturday the 29th

I prefer Sunday the 30th

I can make it Friday- not preferred

I can make it Saturday- not preferred

I can make it Sunday- not preferred

Can't make any of these dates, but I'm still interested

It’s hard for me to commit to anything this time of year, but hopefully I can make it.

When the "preferred" and "can make it" are added together, it's a toss up between the dates suggested, so far.
Maybe the next few votes will tip to a favorite. We definitely have enough to make it an event.

Quick Q - when do we plan on having this locked down?

9/29 is Zwanze day (for those beer drinkers).. ticket for that goes on sale this Friday.. would love to have this date confirmed by then if possible? :)
Thanks again for hosting Peter!

Saturday is still the most preferred, but gets a potential ten attendees.
Sunday is less preferred, with the potential who can make it 11
Friday is least preferred, paradoxically having the most who can attend at 12.

I'm leaning towards Friday. We should decide this week to let everyone firm up plans. I actually have not voted yet.

I said that I would set a date by the end of this week.
My wife will be participating, but isn't voting in the poll. She says, "Please not Sunday." We may be hosting another event in our house the following Tuesday.
I'm going to give extra weight to Steven Miller in appreciation for all the work he does every year for the Post IPNC tasting and set the date for Saturday. If a lot of people change their minds, there is still the flexibility to change to Friday.

I’m still in for Saturday if start mid-afternoon or later.

I removed my vote for “can make it Friday-not preferred.” If it moves to Friday or Sunday, I’ll have to wait until the next tasting.

I'm having knee surgery the 28th, and will almost certainly be on painkillers and unable to walk or drive for some time. So I will have to wait for the next one. A shame since I have a lot of options and really like OR Pinot.

Hi Gents - sorry for the late response, but I've been off WB for a while. I'd love to attend, and can do any day. I have a slight preference for Sundays, but I'll be there with some 2007's & 8's whenever this ends up happening.
Best,

I don't think a starting time has been mentioned. How about 5:00 PM?
Does that squeeze anyone who has kid's soccer games to attend, or similar obligations?

We should arrange to have enough food to make the equivalent of an evening meal. I encourage anyone who doesn't already have old WV Pinots in their cellar to just bring food instead. I have many bottles I will gladly open.

As I'm picturing it, there won't be a formal structure of grouping in flights, and an order of progression. Those who have to leave early, or come late, might miss an interesting taste or two, but there is no plot or character development to follow.
I've never tried this- a blind/not blind as you choose tasting. All wines are brown bagged with a number code. A key is available for anyone to consult at any time.
You can pick the wines you try by looking at the coding list, or you can test your knowledge of vintages and AVAs by tasting before learning the identity.

I’m good for Saturday. Have a 90s era bottle as well. Also some early to mid 2000s.
Saturday provides a bit of time to throw some food together as well.
I’ll see if Y wants to attend.

Been keeping my eye on this thread hoping to attend, but it doesn't look like I'll be able to make it happen. Also, my aged OR PN is locked away in storage while we remodel our basement, so that would make it a little difficult as well.

Looking forward to hearing about the wines... I'm sure to be a little envious given the theme... have fun!

This is what I've compiled as a tentative count.

Please give any changes, corrections, +1s, and vintage contribution if known. I'll fill in some missing vintages from 1998 to 2004.

Myself and my wife
Hal Blumberg 1993
Terrance C. (arriving late) 2006
Bryan Carr +1 2005 & 2006
J. Diven +1 late ‘90s + early 2000’s
Brian Glas
Scott Tallman +1 2007
Del LaBand ’94 Magnum or 1998
Mark Y +1 White(s) for starters
Ryan McBreyer
Eric W ?

I've edited out anyone who has not responded, or said they can't come.
If everyone is not already aware, there is a Husky game today at 5:30. Check the traffic maps before heading over.

Trying to shake off being sick right now but hopefully make an appearance
Thinking about not bringing the magnum now as being a blind tasting people might guess that the magnum is the 94.

I'm going to go with being sick is just a state of mind, whether it is true or not. Don't get your mind set on anything contagious, though. My grandson has been spreading illnesses I never heard of previously.

Are attendees up for brown-bagging the wines and testing our abilities to identify vintages? I like guessing games, even when I'm mostly wrong.

Hi Peter,

Brown bagging is fine with me. A couple of questions:

1) Should guests bring glassware?

2) Do you have a Durand? If not, I'll bring mine.

Looking forward to it!

Cheers,

Food- A number of people have offered to bring food. More is welcome.
Glassware- I have a lot of stemware, but not a lot of Official Oregon Pinot Noir glasses.
I do not have a Durand. Great idea for old corks.
Brown bagging- If the wine is brought in a bag, we can have someone overbag and number the bottles.

Edited one last time. Watch out for Husky game traffic.
I can't locate any 2004 without major cellar dismantling, so that would be a good choice if we are to cover all the vintages from '98 to '08.

Thanks Peter for hosting. You and your wife did a great job. I really enjoyed the wines and the company. Here are the wines we tried...

Wasn't sure of a couple of the vintages. My pictures weren't that good.

1993 Domaine Drouhin Laurene
2007 St. Innocent Shea
1999 Panther Creek Willamette Valley
2003 Shea Wine Cellars Shea Vineyard
2005 De Ponte Cellars Dundee Hills
2006 Beaux Freres Beaux Freres Vineyard
2002? Evesham Wood Le Puits Sec
2007 Biggio Hamina Deux Vert Vineyard
2007 Matello Whistling Ridge
2000 Argyle Nuthouse
2002 Domaine Drouhin Laurene
2001 Shea Wine Cellars Shea Vineyard
1994 Domaine Drouhin
2006 Torii Mor Olalla Vineyard
2005? Thomas Dundee Hills

We also had a lovely Walter Scott and Matello Chard.

The Panther Creek was slightly corked. I didn't pick that up right away but the wine seemed muted on the palate with no finish. Later I was able to pick up the cork taint. The other wines were all very good to excellent. I don't have much experience tasting 10 year old Pinot as my collection is pretty much all 2007 - 2016. With these older wines, I didn't get the bright cherry and raspberry fruit like I do in younger wines. I heard a wide variety of favorites. Mine were the Argyle Nuthouse, 2003 Shea, and the 2007 Biggio Hamina. I also enjoyed the Beaux Freres.

I enjoyed Jim Diven's pulled pork tacos. Great on the nose, palate, and super long finish. 95 points.

Thanks to everyone who brought great wine and great food. Left behind were a pair of sunglasses with a brown tortoise shell frame, a Zalto stem, and a pair of metal tongs.
As soon as I picked up the Zalto I knew it was not one of the similar shaped Spiegelaus I put out.

The other Domaine Drouhin was a 1994 estate, which at the time they labeled "Oregon".

Thanks Peter for hosting. Great event.

The Zalto is mine as we accidentally grabbed one of you glasses and left the Zalto. Let me know a good time and Sheela or I can swing by to swap glasses.

Thanks for hosting Peter! Always fun to hang out on the deck.

My favs were
2005 Thomas
1993 Drouhin Laurene
And the Walter Scott freedom hill Chard.

Also quite good were the 2001 Shea Shea, and 2002 evesham wood.

The pulled pork was awesome indeed!
