NYC Sept 28 - Fundraiser Featuring 82 BDX

Dear Fellow Berserkers, I would like to pass on the following note about a terrific fundraiser for a worthy cause in NYC on Sept. 28th:

I wanted to reach out about our fall fundraising dinner in New York City. We’re doing something a bit different this year and it’s very very special. We’re hosting an intimate wine dinner on Thursday, September 28 which will feature some of the most sublime Bordeaux wines produced from the landmark 1982 vintage, referred to by the Wine Spectator as “a vintage that changed the world of wine forever.” The wines will be presented by Master of Wine Charles Curtis, former head of wine at Christie’s auction house. Dinner will be prepared by David Waltuck, James Beard award-winning chef of the former NYC stalwart Chanterelle. David is putting together a menu of Chanterelle classics and some of his newer Asian-inflected dishes designed to showcase the wines and reflect the season.
To be held at the Institute for Culinary Education in lower Manhattan, the event will begin with the superb vintage 1982 champagnes from Dom Pérignon and continue with two marvelous white burgundies from Domaine Leflaive in the equally heralded 1992 vintage. We will then launch into a dizzying array of some of the finest red Bordeaux from 1982, including Mouton-Rothschild, Cheval Blanc, Léoville-Las Cases, Pichon-Lalande and others before finishing with the tremendous 1982 Château d’Yquem Sauternes (a full list of featured wines appears below). These monumental wines, generously donated by one of our board members, are just coming into their own at 35 years of age. This is a once-in-a-generation chance to catch these wines at their best.
You can reserve a seat by making a tax-deductible donation at the early bird rate of $2,195 per person. Seats are limited and early bird pricing ends on September 1 so reserve now. And do feel free to circulate this information to wine lovers you know who may be interested.
