I know the owner of Locanda Positano in San Carlos; was going to stop by this weekend and see if I can get Enzo on board for a Monday night event.

Been a few OLs since we did Yuzu. We're always welcome to use their private room there. Although we couldn't do a Monday event there, as they're closed that day.

My wife did mention that she'd like to attend whenever we do Yuzu. She loves that place.

Can I do a George-ish thing? I have a 1981-1984 Dehlinger Pinot Noir flight I'd like to open. They might all be crap, but I'd like to give it a shot.

Tinfoil hats for everyone!

I'd be very interested in that flight. Dehlingers are very clean balanced wines.

I am a total newbie to serious wine, but I am obsessed! I would love to join you folks, if you don't mind. I don't have an aged wine to share, but I'll try to get something from winebid :). Anything else I need to know? Been meaning to try yuzu! Sushi is my other obsession.

Igor, you don't have to go to Winebid for something aged, we often drink younger wines as well. Something on the lighter more elegant side is always good with Sushi. If you need to source something, this bottle at K&L is one I've enjoyed in past vintages, and I think would go very well with the food:

Don't buy it, Alan drank it, refilled it with Rombauer, and consigned it to K and L.

LOL. I have the least understanding/experience with whites, so I guess I can go with that suggestion. The other option is Riesling I suppose. Something like this maybe? http://www.klwines.com/p/i?i=1279889

How about beaujolais? Never tried it with sushi, but seems like it might work.

Igor, if you want to spring for that Pichler, that would be cool. And also a good illustration of the warmth and ripeness of the 15 vintage across Europe. Beaujolais also works, as a lighter red.

Unfortunately August 1st we will be celebrating Swiss National Day by partaking in the national tradition of fondue/raclette and a few bottles of the dwindling Swiss stash while dreaming of the Rütli Meadow. Proscht!!

Happy Monday, everyone. I need to provide a confirmed number of attendees to the owner/chef at Yuzu for our OL. Please chime in here with the understanding that a no show or cancellation the day of will result in the attendees having to cover your share of the bill. The cross we must bear to get corkage waived and a private room to ourselves........ [cheers.gif]
