Don’s Pinots are beautiful. Definitely more on the restrained side with a cooler climate personality. For the most part, you’ll find more earthy, savory notes intermingled with bright, red fruit. Not over the top at all.
Here’s a review in deal #2 on the 2014 iOTA Pelos Sandberg Vineyard Eola-Amity Hills Oregon Pinot Noir
14.2% alc., 486 cases, $40. The winery’s flagship bottling. A selection of barrels including all four of the clones in the Pelos-Sandberg Vineyard: Pommard, Wädenswil, Dijon 777 and 667. Aged 11 months in French oak barrels, 40% new. · Moderate garnet color in the glass. Appealing aromas of black cherry, blackberry, and pipe smoke. Plush in the mouth with a serious extract of fresh black cherry and black raspberry fruit flavors accented with spice and a subtle smoky signature. Plenty to discover in this wine with many nuances, commendable harmony and an inspiring finish. Score: 93. Reviewed June 25, 2017 Rusty Gaffney

Iota Cellars 2014 Pelos Sandberg Vineyard Pinot Noir (Eola-Amity Hills)
The 40% new French oak seems just right, putting a toasty frame around robust black-cherry fruit. There’s a spicy zip to the back-half flavors, and a clean lingering finish with highlights of mocha and smoke. PAUL GREGUTT

Tasting Note
Fresh, expressive and light-footed, with a firm underpinning to the raspberry and white chocolate flavors, finishing with a hint of mineral. Drink now through 2021. 757 cases made. — HS
This might sound a bit strange, but I asked about these wines earlier but we were already over-extended (who isn’t on BD).
We live in Las Vegas and I said to my wife, if either of us hit a Royal Flush I’m buying this wine.
She laughed because it’s like 1 in 45,000 chances.
Well, I got a ROYAL and immediately bought the older 6 pack.
I’ve been wanting to try these wines for about 2-3 years and so glad I can !!!
I was in Vegas last week sitting at the bar in the Cosmo sports book and this knuckle head next to me hit this right before knocking my $13 vodka tonic over. Bartender poured me a double.
