Grassl Glasses (and a few Zaltos)
Forum rules
Not 'Rules', necessarily, but here's how BerserkerDay goes:
I'll be launching offers in groups of 8-10, in increments of 30 minutes. Sponsors will stay pegged at the top of the forum all day, each new group of offers will come in at the top with them for their launch grouping, cycling into the 'normal' thread after their launch time has passed, with a new launch group posted atop the thread thereafter. Discussion is encouraged, as posting replies moves the thread up to the top of the grouping, whether that is during launch time group or the 'regular' forum.
Keep checking in every 30 minutes for new offers being posted, and keep scrolling down to see everything that has been launched throughout the timeframe in which you've been on the forum, which hopefully is ALL DAY

Ohhhh David....tsk tsk...
*yes, the backorder is 'kludgey' - i had to figure it out on the fly as the first 300 stems were sold in.......40 minutes....!!!!
I'm sure it will result in a PR disaster for me. LOL...but, we shall prevail and glasses will be sent.

Re: Grassl Glasses (and a few Zaltos)
Just ordered two more in addition to my original six...
Maybe I should hang on to my tubes after all. I had intended to send them back, but if the forthcoming travel bag is meant to work in conjunction with the tubes...

Re: Grassl Glasses (and a few Zaltos)
Amazed at how light these are compared to what I thought were my “good” wine glasses. Ordered another four stems to round out my collection. All in, twelve stems and a decanter ordered.

Any chance this is still open, lol?
We are having a dinner party tonight, and my wife sheepishly just admitted, she broke another and the maid broke one.

Re: Grassl Glasses (and a few Zaltos)
*****Status Update / February 2, 2020 ********
All, first a massive "Thank You" for the orders. I'm in awe of the support the board has shown me.
As of today I've packed and staged all fillable orders. If you have 1855's in your order and you haven't gotten an email with tracking data; you're on backorder. I signed off on the container yesterday and it will be moving from Slovakia on Wednesday. Keep an eye on this thread for updates as it moves around the globe. The budget is 6 weeks to the USA then about 2 weeks for customs, me, and then to you.
Glasses have broken in transit. It happens. We moved over 3,000 glasses this week. 1% is what I expect. We are well below that but it is still an annoyance for all of you. I will, without question, get you a new stem as rapidly as I can.
Many of you triggered the tube recycling option when checking out. Yeah....that failed (unreal). Just email me if you wish to return them. Candidly, it is really only beneficial if you are returning 4+ tubes. The cost and footprint of returning fewer than that isn't a victory for us. Please recycle them.
I am traveling for the day job Tuesday the 4th thru Friday night. Email replies will be delayed. Replacement shipments will be delayed. But I will get back to you as soon as I can.
Lastly, to all the auction winners. Don't feel slighted, but, you get filled in the backorders. However, I have something for you in each of your boxes when you get them. Thank you for your generous donations to the board.

Can someone tell me how to use the Tracking Number? Can't seem to track it in Amazon because I didn't place the Order through Amazon.

Re: Grassl Glasses (and a few Zaltos)
Received my BD order a day earlier than expected, today via Amazon's shipping service. Everything was so carefully and exquisitely packed. One thing of note, though, is that the label gave the weight as 6 lbs. It felt more like .6 lbs. I hope Chris isn't being charged by weight because mine was clearly overstated. It was nowhere near 6 lbs.

Container left warehouse Thursday. Updates as it hits milestones
Rickie; I pay dimensional weight charges. That box gets hit at 6 pounds. But I’m not overpaying for the weight. I’m simply paying for the volume.
Several broken stems and a few screwed up orders by me this week while I traveled.
I’ll handle all of this Saturday when I’m home. Thanks for the patience.

Re: Grassl Glasses (and a few Zaltos)
Had my first exposure to Grassl "Tasting" glasses this week at a Barolo/Barbaresco/Chianti tasting that Greg dal Piaz and VDLTwine.com helped organize. (I understand that VDLT is or will be importing the glasses, too.)
They're terrific -- quite thin and light but they supposedly stand up to tasting room dishwashing. Since I have no patience for handwashing (save for some old Riedel Burgundy stems), that's a great combo. And I love the shape! They really showed off the wines well.

Re: Grassl Glasses (and a few Zaltos)
Cargo Update / Domestic Supply Update
The container has now been given a US Port arrival date of March 7th. As that tightens up I will update accordingly. Historically, delivery to me from arrival in the port (NY/NJ) has been 13 business days. As I have a full container, it's feasible movement is faster and I've inquired with my freight firm to gauge that.
Domestic supply - tasting room glasses are available in sufficient quantity but every other stem save for 2 dozen Liberté and 4 dozen Mineralité are shot.
1855 and Cru glasses broken in transit (an unfortunate event in less than 1% of all shipments) will need to wait for the cargo container to be reloaded.
There are some tasting kits (rentals) which are also on hold as I cannot currently create them with stock on hand. Private emails will be sent shortly updating you individually about this.
Auction winners - you're in the holding tank too.
Thank you for the continued patience, acceptance of my flaws, and support of the glass.

We (VDLT) will not be importing Grassl. We leave that to Chris. But, we do expect to sell them soon on our website.John Morris wrote: ↑February 9th, 2020, 8:31 am Had my first exposure to Grassl "Tasting" glasses this week at a Barolo/Barbaresco/Chianti tasting that Greg dal Piaz and VDLTwine.com helped organize. The event John referenced, which a number of Berserkers attended, was greatly enhanced by our use of Grassl glasses. We purchased enough for everyone to have 3 to use for the 5 flights of 3 wines each. They excelled with small pours and didn’t suck up too much table space. At the end of the night, the restaurant ran them through the dishwasher and we only lost 1 of 120. Re-boxed, they are ready for our next event.
Great product! Pleasure dealing with Chris.

I would agree. the downside for people that love the fizz, any wide bottomed glass will dissipate the bubble much quicker.Mich@el Ch@ng wrote: ↑February 19th, 2020, 5:27 pm On a whim I decided to drink champagne from a cru glass tonight; it’s actually a little more expressive. I like it!
BTW - I found a flaw in the glass design. If you drop a bottle of petite sirah on the rim of the glass it exposes a structural defect.

I finally pulled out a tasting glass purchased on BD. It is a great glass. I like that it's more compact, but probably twice the weight of the other glasses and it feels quite sturdy. Thanks Chris!

Re: Grassl Glasses (and a few Zaltos)
So, we've had these at our address for a good month+ at this point. Overall, I have only one major complaint about these Grassls: our Riedel Vinums now suck. Although I never considered the Riedels to be top-of-the-line, I was always pleased with the Vinum line. Now, after having the Grassls and having gotten used to them, the Vinums feel like Libbeys. Guess we're just gonna have to buy more Grassl!!
As for the Grassl glasses, themselves:
Liberte: have been loving this glass for all whites, including those we drink most often (Chenin and Riesling).
Mineralite: I've found the opening to be a bit smaller than I want, but have used for Champagne with success. Will continue to experiment.
Cru: really loving how Pinot shows from this one, and given the frequency with which we pull Pinot corks, this is an extremely pleasant upgrade at our house.
Thank you, Chris! Wonderful product. Great customer service. And stupid-good deal!![cheers [cheers.gif]](./images/smilies/cheers.gif)

And stupid-good deal!

Re: Grassl Glasses (and a few Zaltos)
Thank you Brian.
We are operating under the impression that all of the WB Day orders are filled.
We are ALSO operating under the impression that we screwed stuff up.
Find us and yell at us (which is cool, i get it) but use info@cjfselections.com
The use of my private Mac email has proven to be a weak link in this monitoring process and I'm trying to mature the organization.
