An utterly brilliant wine, and whoever bought it did well. In the early eighties, I went to a 1978 Chateauneud tasting. Two wines stood out, the Rayas ($22) and the VT($12). I bought two cases of the VT. Still have a few bottles left, and enjoyed every one. Had I kept the Rayas, I would have been tempted to sell them and pay for a year of my son’s college. This way I got to enjoy an absolute classic.
