Auction benefitting Doctor's Without Borders - Chateau Bargylus

#1 Post by David H. »

Good afternoon fellow Berserkers!

A very good friend of mine and his fiance started a non-profit last year called Dangerous Wines. The focus of Dangerous Wines and their events is to showcase wine from challenging parts of the world with the proceeds from the dinner going to Doctor's Without Borders. This year, they have partnered with the host venue to auction three bottles of the featured wine. This year Chateau Bargylus is being featured.

If you are interested in bidding, the host venue, Oak and Ola in Tampa requests you call them to bid. Their number is (813) 773-1901. Three bottles are available. Starting bid is $150.

The Bargylus vineyard is located near the ancient city of Antioch and is the only commercial vineyard in Syria. It enjoys a high diurnal range at 900m above sea level, giving the wine great freshness, acidity, and refinement. Limestone soils give the wine great minerality. Owned by two talented brothers of the Saade family, Karim and Sandro, who have had to transport their grapes via various taxi journeys! Fine wine can still be made despite the political and civil unrest, and the logistical challenges that come with making wine from a war-torn country.

60% Syrah, 20% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Merlot. 14.5% ABV

If you would like to donate in addition to the wine auction or read more about the mission — you can do so at this link.
