FT: my 2014 / 2015 Clos Rougeard Saumur-Champigny / Les Poyeux for your 2013, 2012, 2010, or 2008

As the tile says, would like to do a straight trade.

Looking for 1 bottle of 2013 and up to 2 bottles of 2012 Clos Rougeard Saumur-Champigny.

Will trade the 2014 version of the same wine. Local only please, can meet somewhere with a 20-mile radius of San Francisco.

New year bump

I assume you are assembling a vertical, as comparatively IMHO, the 2014 is a superior wine!

A damn generous offer. I’d jump all over it if I had extras.

Good luck!

Just looking for a little variety. I totally agree that 2014 is superior to 2013 and 2012. I have had other Loire reds from these vintages from Baudry and Roches Neuves and the 2014’s do stand out in quality. I kinda went overboard with 2014 Rougeard buying 1.5 cases [wink.gif]

I do not have any 12’s or 13’s so I wanted to have some other vintages to try. I have drank a few older vintages of Rougeard (the 2011 Lex Poyuex still haunts me) but no 12’s or 13’s.

Ha, that ain’t overboard! That’s brilliance!

Correct me if I’m wrong, but I thought '11 was supposedly a weak vintage in Loire? Guess it doesn’t necessarily apply to Rouegard?

Rougeard has an extra sun.

The 2011 rocks! Yea, tough vintage for many, though. I also like the 2011 Baudry Croix Boissee.

'11 Baudry ready to drink now or need some more time?

I drank the 2011 Les Poyeux I think 2 or 3 times (bought it for $80) in 2018 - 2019. It was excellent because it was open and ready when I drank them. I also drank 2010 Les Clos at a later date twice, but it was definitely more closed. The 2010 had really good bones and would be a better wine in the future, but for sheer drinking pleasure, the 2011 Les Poyeux was the one to open at that time.

Take note though, from what I heard the 2011 Lex Poyeux was definitely better than the 2011 Les Clos.

That’s good to know-seems like there are certain vintages where Les Poyeux definitely shows better. Appreciate the note!

Was there ever a vintage where Clos Rougeard’s Les Clos is better than the Les Poyeux?

I’ve not had enough Rougeards to comment on that, but from comments I’ve seen, I guess I was saying that there are certain vintages where the extra tariff for Les Poyeux isn’t necessarily worth it?

Such as which vintages?

Bumping this. I will include 2015’s as well. Both les Clos and poyeux.

Update: Looking for a straight trade, local only.

my 2015 Lex Poyeux - for 2012, 2011, 2010, or 2008 Les Poyeux
my 2014 Lex Poyeux - for 2012, 2010, or 2008 Les Poyeux
my 2015 Les Clos - 2013, 2012, 2010, or 2008 Les Clos
my 2014 Les Clos - 2013, 2012, 2010, or 2008 Les Clos

I have a couple of at-release purchased 2008 CR-LPs that’s been on the trading block for a few years now and am always on the lookout to expand vintages, specifically 2014. Too bad, I’m not within your required radius.

Btw, one of the highlights of our local Rougeard v Baudry head-to-head the other night was the 2008 CR Le Clos.

I cannot see your location from your signature, I assume you are outside CA? Or maybe in the southern CA area? I am looking for older vintages so I can drink them now, I just feel that it would be kind of wasteful to crack open 2014 or 2105 right now.
