unfortunately, global premier upgrades cannot be used on award bookings.
your best bet- search one way paid fares originating from both LAX and LHR to see which is the better fare that falls into an upgradeable bucket class. book that paid ticket. cancel your reward ticket and redeposit the miles and then use your miles to book the other one way as a business class award.
