Dinner Last Night--Meat And Taters

Steak was a 20oz rib-eye that I got from Costco…labeled as choice and priced at $5.99 a pound. I eat quite a bit of steak, and this was no choice. It would grade USDA Prime, High Prime any day of the week. It got past the inspector, grader, packer and butcher…but not past me. I snatched four of these beauties, and while not dry aged, it was a hell of a $7 steak. Taters didn’t suck either.

Nice.
I don’t have your eye for meat, but have certainly had a few Costco ribeyes that I felt were working above their payscale.

Light Daisy?

On a diet, Bill?

Only thing we keep in the house.

It’s always Light Daisy, Mr. Details.

Holy crap…did the grill run out of charcoal, you forgot to cook that thing! I’ts been fine when I’ve been down
there, but man, that sucker seems rarer than usual!

Nope. Spot on for what I was looking for at medium rare.

Man Up!!

That looks perfect to me.

Me too. I could eat it even rarer, but that looks wonderful as it is.

I could eat it rarer as well…but I suffered through it.

LMAO. You eat a steak like that and use LIGHT sour cream? WTF?!? Bring on the real sour cream, real butter and fry up some fresh bacon for a baked potato the size of your head! LOL. [rofl.gif]

Someone fill Joe in…

Running joke from the Squires board for a year and a half now. I posted a Flannery steak way back when and the Light Daisy snuck its way into the picture. I didn’t even notice, but Freemott did. Ever since, when we post steak porn, folks try to place some sour cream in the shot…regardless of baked potato or not. One of my pics even had some pediatric cough syrup in it.

Unfortunately my experience has been the opposite where the Costco Ribeyes that I have had are working below their payscale. More towards day laborers.

Bill…looks great, especially the taters…man I love eating at your place.

Hey Bill,
Was that fresh or dried rosemary on the spuds?

Dried…half thyme and half rosemary ground in a M&P along with some Telicherry pepper. Mixed with melted duck fat to coat potatoes. Kosher salt.

Saxum? [diablo.gif]

Got it. Never noticed that before but then again I never really did hang out in the food section “over there”. Mostly the Wine Conversations and Social Hall. [blush2.gif]
