Tonight’s supper was the last of our last purchase of sashimi from Catalina Offshore. We enjoyed hamachi loin and belly, mackeral, & halibut, with lightly pickled ginger, thinly sliced cucumber, wasabi, and soy sauce. We started with the last of the Nigori ‘Dreamy Clouds’ that was left over from our our last sashimi dinner. When that light, soft sake was finished, we had a Rihaku ‘Wandering Poet’ sake. Richer and more complex, it’s currently our favorite of sakes now available here in Santa Fe. Tonight we had our meal around the coffee table in the living room in front of a roaring fire, listening to Schubert impromptus played on a fortepiano by Malcolm Bilson.
Then as the fire was dwindling, and the sashimi and sake were disappearing, we moved to the den for dessert. While watching various TiVo’d shows, we had the usual post-sashimi finisher, chocolate. We had the second half of the '83 Graham’s Port that we had after the last sashimi dinner, with TJ’s chocolate truffles and French Vanilla, Chocolate Hazelnut, and Dark Chocolate Piroulines, a lovely Santa Fe evwning
