2009 James Beard Charity Dinner Extravaganza

7 Superstar Chefs Kick Off Annual Scottsdale Culinary Festival
“Friends of James Beard” dinner comes to Westin Kierland Resort & Spa April 14

What: If you brought together superstar chefs from San Francisco, Scottsdale, Las Vegas and New York City, what would you have? Answer: the “Friends of James Beard” dinner, a unique, collaborative experience featuring seven renowned James Beard Award-winning chefs – the perfect kickoff to the 31st annual Scottsdale Culinary Festival.
This unforgettable gustatory gala will include these artisans of the kitchen:
Chef Victor Scargle – Go Fish, St. Helena, Napa Valley Chef Emily Luchetti – Author, executive pastry chef, Farallon Restaurant, San Francisco Chef Robert McGrath – REM, Scottsdale Chef Roland Passot – La Folie, San Francisco Chef Luciano Pellegrini – Valentino, Las Vegas Chef Douglas Rodriguez – Deseo, Scottsdale Chef Michael Smith – Author, star of “Chef at Home,” Canada’s top-rated TV cooking show.
“The quality and raw talent of the chefs selected for this one dinner is rarely assembled. Each is assigned a single course for the full focus of their attention, and is given virtual carte blanche to do with it as they wish. Working with the finest ingredients, this exclusive opportunity is worth attending as its fare is absolutely incomparable.” – Merrill Moss, Chairperson of the SCF

Using the skills and vision that earned them the coveted James Beard Award, the chefs each will prepare exquisite cuisine complete with carefully selected wine pairings. Chef John Sarich of the restaurant Chateau Ste. Michelle in Washington state will be the emcee for the evening.
