I’m trying to source a real Chianina porterhouse for my parent’s 40th anniversary. Is anyone selling this in the US?
Funny you ask this…we hung out with friends who had just spent ten days in Italy and I was drooling over their Bistecca alla Fiorentina pix. Closest thing I’ve ever had was from Kinderhook in NY.
It’s been so long since I’ve had one. I’ve even reached out to some shops in Italy to see if they’ll ship internationally…

I suspect that would cause some sort of customs issue, but who knows. Please report back if you find something and post pix of the end product!

eataly carries chianina beef occasionally. not sure if they ship, but happy to send to you if you want to check it out.

Thank you! Will look into both
In case anyone else is looking for the same thing, Tom’s find is likely where I’m sourcing from. Will update when we’ve had it.

There have been Chianina cattle in the US since about the time I went off to college. A lot are used for crossbreeds, though.
