TWEC™ recently made a sojourn to Petros82, a newly opened upscale Greek fine dining restaurant in the heart of Toronto’s entertainment district. Petros82 is located just down the street from the TIFF Bell Lightbox in the space that formerly housed Montecito. On this evening TWEC ™ members Jay Shampur, Michael Wright and myself were joined by my friend and fellow Mahjong player Jane McLaughlin for our first ever visit.
Petros82 is highlighted by a seafood and steak “market” display in the middle of the restaurant which you are invited to get up and visit and from which you can choose any of the available fresh fish, seafood and steaks of the day on display for your table. Petros82 wants you to experience your meal the way an actual Greek meal would be served in a Greek family home, and so both the fresh market and the menu dishes are all designed to be shared by the entire table.
We started off with a classic savory Spanakotiropita pastry. Feta and spinach are wrapped together in phyllo pastry and baked.
Next was the Lentil Salad.
We ordered one main from the menu and one from the fresh market. From the menu, we got the Grilled Lamb Chops.
From the market, we ordered a whole Red Snapper.
To go with the proteins, we ordered the Greek Risotto with leeks and wild mushrooms.
For dessert, we shared the Chocolate Cheesecake.
Pretty good stuff. If your idea of Greek dining is Souvlaki stick after Souvlaki stick, then you owe it to yourself to check out Petros82 if you’re ever in Toronto. TWEC ™ will be back here soon!
