Lunar New Year Dishes

How are you celebrating? We started with a Hot Pot this weekend and I’ve been cooking up a few things.

So far:

Rosebud Dumplings, which came about as I bought wrappers that are too thin for potstickers and played around with the shape.

Those look great Christine.

My wife is making Thịt kho this afternoon (Vietnamese braised pork and eggs). I think the plan is to get together with some of my sisters in law who will bring other Vietnamese dishes they are making.

Those are beautiful and look delectable!

I wish you a very fulfilling new year.

I am at work, but wearing my year of the tiger shirt!

My eldest son is a Fire Ox.

My wife is a Water rabbit.

I am an Earth Boar, which matches well with my wife!

My younger son is a Metal Dragon.

I love the imagery and procession.

We used to host or go to parties, now I am just kind of generally tired, lately.

Anyway, thank you for the gorgeous pics!

We had prime rib last night, but Linda’s SIL made us macarons for dessert.

I so miss Chinese New Year at Sun Wah ….used to always have a table for 10, brought tons of favorite wines and we would have such fun with Kelly and her family.

We went with Indonesian this year… Mie goreng, rendang, and nasi campur. Served with a Vaucrains.

Everything above looks beautiful!

Those are absolutely adorable!

Quite a late post; but, anyway…since we can’t make Chinese dishes well at home, I ordered our CNY dinner from the nearby branch of a pretty decent Taiwanese chain (Shi Lin) - well, except for the steamed slipper lobster course.

Love the picture of the tiger looking at the camera while you were taking the picture. Awesome! And the meal looks fantastic. Thank you for posting.
