Trading Places theme Dinner

For our “dinner and a movie” group, we’re doing Trading Places.

Manhattans, mimosa & some themed beer.

chicken drummies “I have legs!”
Pork belly

Escargot (may get vetoed). Or faux escargot using a mushroom??

NY strip medallions

Dessert with orange juice component
NY cheesecake

Thoughts? Anybody else do this kind of thing?

Will this be held at the Haile Selassie Pavilion? Big fun there.

For dessert you could make some crepes and throw them in the trash.

You must do smoked salmon…and eat it while wearing the Santa beard.

Have some kind of Coleman Steak

What’s a Coleman steak?

In the movie’s final scene, Coleman orders lobster and cracked-crab for everyone’s lunch.

anchovies
beef jerky
bananas
pretzels
swedish meatballs
champagne for everyone

Chicken soup

Need a bottle of Maddog

Fruity drinks with umbrellas in them

These are great!

only beer I recall seeing was Heineken
Also saw Perrier and Tab, and Coleman’s eggnog.

Yellow ones and red ones.

It’s just a company that I see that sells game meats. Was just trying to think of something that fit. [wink.gif]

Don’t forget bubbles in the bathtub.

Gotcha

“jerky beef”
Also, Coleman makes crepes Suzette (and ultimately dumps it in the trash)

We did have beef jerky as a parting gift.

The faux escargot were really good. Pulled stems and pulsed w garlic, butter, thyme, shallot and lots of parsley. Then I roasted the caps in wine do the took on that flavor, then I cooled and stuffed the caps w the mixture and topped w a crouton.

Back in the hot oven for maybe 7 minutes and they were really good.

I did use my ebelskiver pan…

Wines were Legras and Diebolt-Valois prestige which despite 6-8gms struck me as bone dry. I think the acidity was big.

It was fun… half of the people had NEVER seen it [scratch.gif]
