Popeyes Chicken Sandwich

If you’ve eaten it, what are your thoughts?

Mine: Really tender/moist chicken - buttermilk batter is crispy but not heavy - brioche bun is surprisingly airy for a fast food joint. Pickles and sauce need more oomph. Feel the sandwich is lacking a touch of flavor, but texture wise it’s really good. Brought one home for my wife and she thought it was a $6-7 chicken sandwich and was pretty shocked when I told her $3.99.

Haven’t had it yet. How does it compare to Chick-fil-A?

I stopped by Popeyes last week to buy a bucket of chicken and two people in front of me on line asked for the sandwich and were told it was sold out. I was wondering what was going on.

had a bite - was really excellent. seems the only issue to ensure they don’t skimp on the pickles. it’s quite an achievement imo.

I can’t stand Popeyes chicken. It’s gross.

I am with Joe on this, but I don’t eat much chicken anyway.

While I do like Popeye’s (my wife and I are guilty of having Popeyes and Champagne here and there), I don’t really get ordering a fried chicken sandwich when there is just plain ol’ fried chicken available (as opposed to somewhere like Sun of a Gun when you’re not in the mood for seafood). I’d rather have less bred and more chicken + breading.

Hard to eat fried chicken while riding in the car, for one. Gets fingers greasy, which isn’t alway a good thing, depending on your situation. That all said, would be really cool if Chick-fil-A tried fried chicken.

More than Charlie’s glowing review, this makes me think it’s probably delicious.

I don’t eat in my car for some reason, but this is a good point.

No comment on the Sarah association with Chick-fil-A, which no self respecting Sarah would ever frequent, much less cook for…

As for the Popeye’s version, I’ve never had one, but I have a dear friend who owns something like 10 Popeye’s locations in LA and Las Vegas. So please, by all means, keep eating them!

Popeyes when hot and fresh is excellent.

I wish there was a popeyes closer to me, we have a couple instances of that other gay-bashing chicken place that I wont give a penny to.

I was driving though northern suburban Detroit this afternoon (Telegraph north of 12 Mile) and there was a backup of cars (and a traffic jam) waiting to get into Popeyes. Weird

It also can have huge variations in quality from location to location. At this point I know the good ones in Jersey City.

Sold out in Sonoma

So no mo’?

Sold out in West San Jose tonight. Fortunately I was there for tenders and popcorn shrimp.
