We use olive oil, salt and pepper for many vegetables for roasting . And some some truffle oil at times.

Cauliflower is the current favorite in our house these days.

But does sound seriously good. Will try as soon as we get back from vacation.

My mother who used to steam the crap out of brussels sprouts until they were yellow green and my father who made me eat them until I gagged poisoned my interest in the mini cabbage. It wasn’t until a friend grilled mini sprouts that they tasted awesome. There’s a restaurant near us that does a kung pao brussels sprouts appetizer that really takes them to another level. Thanks for sharing the recipe Martin…I’ll give it a shot.

I follow Marc Vetri’s recipe. Half them and sauté on high heat in a pan face down with a bit of oil. Once properly browned cut the heat and add butter and sherry vinegar along with S&P.
I’ll try Martin’s recipe, just easier to do on the stove. Stove method doesn’t work as well with bigger sprouts.

YES, cauliflower is also a revelation by roasting in the oven. In addition I use Raz el hanout for the cauliflower.

in general roasting vegetables in the oven or with a pan gives new dimensions to vegetables. In spring/summer I roast fennel bulbs on very high heat until dark. Such delicious due to the sweetness which emerge by roasting.

I will be so glad when this latest hipster craze of pretending that the the worst tasting of all our vegetables are
still edible has passed.

I’ve been eating them since I was a kid. Different strokes.

Totally agree! I also think that kale’s texture and lack of taste endears it to the trendy health food crowd as a badge of honor as they force it down while convincing themselves that they have found the fountain of youth. I can and do eat it, but I’m not pretending it’s good.

BS’s on the other hand are excellent and no pretending.

Love it! I am a big fan of the lemon zest combo here. Suzy was ambivalent. I did add just a touch of sweet chili sauce in place of some of the honey, it compliments the wok char.
