I saw this in the SF Chronicle this morning and also saw it online. I know this is a popular dish with many on the Board. Cheers!

Re: How to make Zuni Cafe’s Roast Chicken With Bread Salad -- SF Chronicle Article
True story: a few months ago, my friends and I went to Zuni Cafe for lunch and ordered the famous chicken. When they brought it out about 40 minutes later, the first thing I said was "Wow, that's a huge caterpillar!" The waiter hightailed it out of there with our dish so fast it made our heads spin. The manager came over a few minutes later and explained to us the joys of organic produce, which we had no qualms about. They replaced the greens on top and finally served us.
When we finished, my friend wondered whether they would comps us anything for the unexpected protein in our greens. No such luck; they actually added some mysterious surcharge instead! (Presumably it was for the "healthy SF" nonsense.)
Let's just say the chicken and mediocre service isn't enough to make me go back.

Love the recipe. It's my standard for roast chicken (though I skip the bread salad).
Ripe fruit isn't necessarily a flaw.
