Grill / Smoker / Other Meat Prep
Curious what everyone’s preferred methods for preparing meat to pair with your delicious wines.
1. Grill - Weber Kettle (Hasty Bake on my wish list)
2. Smoker - Traeger - I’m a cheater but it’s too easy and darn good
3. Sous Vide - My newest meat prep device. Anyone else experimenting with this technique?

Thanks Gary. Still new around here. Hadn’t made it that far down the board index yet.

Clarkston, I have a Bradley as well. But don’t use it anymore. Find Traeger to be far superior. Probably mainly because the pucks can be hard for me to find locally.

Grilling, hands down. I have neither the patience nor the equipment to do long smokes.

So that was a bit dramatic. I have a Vision kamado, which works, but is a pain in the ass to go much longer than a 3 hr spareribs cook with a constant temp at <=275 on.ERPark wrote: ↑February 9th, 2019, 6:11 pmAndrew Kotowski wrote: ↑February 9th, 2019, 5:32 pmI have neither the patience nor the equipment to do long smokes.![]()

I’ve done ribs on my Weber Kettle but don’t have the desire to do more.
That’s what I love the Traeger (or my Bradley before that). It gives a more than adequate final product with much less work.

Re: Grill / Smoker / Other Meat Prep
Gas Lynx grill when I don’t want to fuss around
Stumps Smoker (charcoal) w/ BBQ guru when I want to smoke
Pizza oven (wood fired) when I want, well, pizza of course, but it cooks a great steak on a Tuscan grill
And we have a Joule we recently purchased and are learning to use.
Big believer in having the right tool, though it’s all good.
Before the Stumps I had figured out a way to smoke pork butts in the pizza oven.

Never seen a Stumps before. Interesting design. Do you use the ball valve to control the temp?Mike Davila wrote: ↑February 15th, 2019, 12:24 pmGas Lynx grill when I don’t want to fuss around
