Frenchette NYC - anyone BYO?
Excited to go to Frenchette this Sunday. Wine list looks great, but just curious if anyone has gone and brought their own wine?

I’ve enjoyed my visits with beer off the list.

The duck frites was great. I went during dry January to avoid the pain of the wine list.
Zak...food is very good and the people watching is even better.

Lots of good choices on the list - but man is it pricey.

not like gibralters, but these short-stemmed odd glasses that most places use for water. we asked for "wine glasses" and they said "these are them!" okay cool.

Those looks like the sort of glasses they serve you beer in at breweries.

Ugh, horrible. I always figured the tiny glasses they normally use at natural wine bars are because no one actually *wants* to accentuate the nose on them. But these are egregious.ybarselah wrote: ↑February 1st, 2019, 11:18 amnot like gibralters, but these short-stemmed odd glasses that most places use for water. we asked for "wine glasses" and they said "these are them!" okay cool.Sarah Kirschbaum wrote: ↑February 1st, 2019, 11:02 amReally? I thought the glassware was fine. Bowl is reasonably shaped and sized. The disgust seems a little extreme

Re: Frenchette NYC - anyone BYO?
i think given the type of restaurant, the prices, the wine list (and its pricing) and all else, results in a very reasonable expectation for proper wines glasses. the glasses they offer were a choice to do so - i don't know why they made that choice - but it was a choice nonetheless. no one is demanding zalto, but to expect a proper glass is normal.

Again, I thought the wine glasses were fine. What's the complaint, that the stem is too short?ybarselah wrote: ↑February 3rd, 2019, 8:02 ami think given the type of restaurant, the prices, the wine list (and its pricing) and all else, results in a very reasonable expectation for proper wines glasses. the glasses they offer were a choice to do so - i don't know why they made that choice - but it was a choice nonetheless. no one is demanding zalto, but to expect a proper glass is normal.

Z-
How was Frenchette?
Like I said before, I thought the food and people watching was a ton of fun. But we were there while I was adhering to dry January, so no issues with the wine list. My wife did order one of their cocktails (the Rayuela) while we were waiting for our table. She said it was undrinkable. Way too much ginger. When we sat down our server asked if we wanted drinks and my wife ordered a negroni. Our server noticed that the previous cocktail was basically untouched and said, "let me take care of that for you". She took it away and when I looked at the bill, it was removed from the bill as well. It was handled in a classy way.

The one time I went my dining companion commented “why is everyone drinking cocktails and not wine?”
