Reykjavic restaurants (Dill and Resto)

Heading over there later this week and have reservations at Dill and Resto.

Anyone have any experience with either of these restaurants (food and/or wine?).

Also plan on hitting two of the hot dog stands for late night, post-Northern Lights snacks and Bergsson Mathus for breakfast.

Welcome all advice or suggestions.

Loki cafe is across from the church and has excellent Icelandic meat soup (it’s big enough to split, but why?). We hit a hotdog place within a couple of blocks of here too and it was solid. The Icelandic meat soup is the must get (yes, I had the putrefied shark, whale, puffin, etc. while there).

Good luck with the lights. We were there last month and missed them due to weather. Our 3 day excursion from Reykjavic was awesome nonetheless. Enjoy.

p.s. Be sure to drink water straight from one of the many steams in the country. Pure. Cold. Delicious.

In my experience the cold water straight from the tap is the same, cold and delicious. Be careful not to mix in the hot water…tastes like sulfur.

We had a great meal at Saeta Svinid (Sweet Pig) which was a very nice casual gastropub. The lamb shoulder that my wife and daughter had was fantastic.

Pastries at Braud are a must in the morning.

2nd Braud. Very good.

Hi again. Quick recap, Dill was very good, but not great. Way too slow of an evening - and not because it was long with lots of food. The restaurant was not full either. Flavors were great though and interesting ingredients were enjoyed. I would not go back and probably wouldn’t recommend it either as I’m sure there are “better” dining experiences in Reykjavik, but it was good. Good looking pics.

Thanks Ray. It was a nice restaurant and a good experience. Cheers!
