I'm in for the Pinot pack. Still have a bunch of Cabot Syrah left over from last year. You can't go wrong with any of these packs.

I was introduced to John and Kimberly's wines thanks to last year's BD, and was hoping for another "Bacon Fat" but knew it probably wasn't likely :(

Regardless, plenty of great selections here, went for the syrah sixer and couldn't resist adding three of the 2011 Marier syrah to my order.
If you don't start drinking early, how can you drink all day?

I love me some Cabot... the pinot, syrah & blends are all great. That being said and I can't believe I'm doing so but I'm passing this year as I already have multiples of most of these in my cellar. More for all of you! Will jump back in next year without hesitation.

If anyone is still on the fence about these, let me tell you that I opened a bottle of the '11 Nash Mill pinot just for today's events (blizzard snow day!), and after a couple of hours, it is whispering things in my ear that I have rarely heard before. I'd load up on another case of the stuff, if i hadn't just blown my budget on today's Myriad release. You will rarely find better QPR than what John is making.

Thanks Eric, the 50% whole cluster on the Nash mill took some time to integrate, but now im pleased with the decision.

  • 2009 Cabot Vineyards Syrah Kimberly's - USA, California, North Coast, Humboldt County (12/26/2015)
Dark opaque ruby red. Dark red berry nose. Dry raspberry with chewy tannins, medium body and fruit, pomegranate and red plums with some stone fruit tannins, blood and leather. The acid leads the fruit with the tannins not far behind. Drinks well now with food and shows potential for further improvement with more time to smooth out the rough edges.
Another night and the rough edges are smoothed. It is drinking more like an OR pinot with the tart red berry acid focused profile, really nothing like the '06 which I have had many times. Much more restrained in the fruit and more Old World. '09 was a warm year in OR, this is more cool climate in nature with zappy acid and tannins. I would like to give another day or so, but this was popular and my last glass. A lot of upside with age on this one. I does not seem that Cabot ever gets old. (91 pts.)
