Help wanted for an Economist article

Hi all,

I’m a reporter with The Economist, and I’ll be visiting California from September 12-19 to research an article about wine technology. Which wineries out there would you say have most embraced science and cutting-edge machinery to improve their products? Any suggestions for places I should check out would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks very much!

Dan

I would guess lots of the big boys like Kendall-Jackson?

Embracing science can mean rejecting cutting edge machinery. Or really, determining which elements of technology are beneficial to making great wine, and which are detrimental. To that end, I’d talk to Paul Draper at Ridge. He’s been examining every aspect of winemaking for 5 decades.
