Orange County, CA

This was started by Paul Lin. I’ve posted it here and will volunteer as thread captain to keep it updated.

Here is a guide for restaurants in the OC that allow BYO. Feel free to post your favorite (or maybe not so favorite) restaurants and their corkage fees and I will update the list as they come in.

I thought I had found the killer no cork deal tonight @ Nick’s in San Clemente but youze guys seemed to already have that nailed down. Anyway, FWIW Ramon, nice to have a zero cork gig so close to us. Dig it.

Thanks for keeping this going! Update: Marché Moderne is now $15.

There’s a little place in Anaheim Hills called Yves Bistro and Wine Bar that has $15 corkage normally, but this is waived on Sundays and Mondays.

Food is pretty decent and prices are reasonable.

off subject, but try the Indian restaurant near Yves’ (across the parking lot).
alan

Thanks! Good recommendation. I have tried it. I enjoyed it, but after living in San Francisco for four years I struggled with their prices when I could get twice the food for half the price at my favorite Indian place up north. For example, the one time I was there, I spent $75 for a dinner for 2 (take out) where as at a little hole in the wall place in SF called Chutney I could spend $40 for a dinner for four and leave stuffed full of the best Indian food outside of what I had at an Indian wedding I went to a few years back.

While I certainly won’t knock the quality of the food at the place in Anaheim Hills, the prices just bug me a little too much to go back. I am not sure if this is an OC thing where good ethnic food is overly expensive, or if it is just this place, but I’d like to think I just haven’t found the right places yet.

Catal restaurant in Downtown Disney does not charge corkage and the food is all pretty darn good, IMO. Reasonably priced as well.

Pizzeria Ortica in Costa Mesa - $25 per…ouch

Great food though

McCormick and Schmicks was $20 at the Irvine location when we were there a week ago.

What the F were you doing at McCormick and Schmicks? You’re better than that. pepsi

The Hobbit (Orange) - $25 but some great deals on an excellent wine list.

Rustica in Newport Beach (Fashion Island) is $20.

The Winery Restaurant ($20). The District in Tustin.

Well…It was Natalie’s B-Day and she wanted too go there. The seafood is actually very good. We enjoyed a young Seasmoke Ten.

How was the food?

Forgettable. Good execution, but uninspired menu.

Memphis (Broadway) on Broadway is now ALWAYS free.

Andrei’s in Irvine charges $15 but does free corkage on Tuesdays.

I know that Charlie Palmer’s at South Coast Plaza is already in the OP, but I wanted to add the clarification that corkage is free for only the first 2 bottles, and then $25 per bottle beyond that.

Yup, I was there on Tuesday and was charged $25 for the third bottle we brought. Happy to pay it.

Was this always the case or did they change it recently?
