UK BYO etiquette?

#1 Post by kristofstevens » August 11th, 2014, 12:44 pm

We are going to Wales for our holidays this year. I was wondering if it makes sense to take a lot of bottles and try BYO in restaurants, does anyone have experience wheter or not this is generally accepted or not in Wales/UK in general?

Thanks!

Totally mixed bag but generally uncommon outside of London. Call ahead.

ok I see a challenge [wow.gif] as the michelin guide is nowhere near the places where we are staying we will probably just ask the B&B owners to suggest us places to go.

If you are very rural expect pubs more than restaurants, and little chance of BYO.

Try the UK wine pages forum. I couldn't find much on cardiff restaurants earlier this year but it's worth a post there.
