Greetings. We're doing a long weekend (Sunday - Tuesday) on the North Fork. Going to stay at Shinn Estate Vineyards.

I'm looking for lunch and dinner recommendations between Paumanok (Abueboque) and Greenport. I know this is the BYO thread, so bonus points for establishments that allow this. Restaurants can be casual or fancy. It's our anniversary.

My other question is will the North Fork be dead in early November?

Thank you.

The Gristmill in East Rockaway. No charge for BYO for now. Ambitious menu. Informal Italian-Continental.

Work in progress. Servers looked like they were in high school or college, so gave us coffee that had sat too long instead of making new pot. Almost gave us orders for another table. Desert of the day, oreo cheesecake was great. Everything else was too heavily salted for our taste.

Iron Skillet is in the dining room of an old Victorian mansion. Friday to Sunday only. Cash only. We enjoyed it.

Louie's in Port Washington corkage is $25. Stems are mediocre, BTG pours (based on observations of other tables) are good sized. Food is decent. I was there for PW Restaurant Week, which was a bargain. Regular menu not so much, you're paying for the view.

Patrizia's in Hicksville. They do not allow corkage. But my educated guess is they have decent wine at a reasonable price.

So did we. Bob the owner is a hoot. The food is delicious. As the menu states, or doesn't, the food is comfort food. Cost for 2 > $85.00 all-in.

Lola-Great Neck, on Middle Neck Road. Corkage is $20. Nice stems. Creative Middle Eastern menu with continental touches. Foie gras is a specialty. Roast duck, too. Upscale but informal. Restaurant week menu was a generous bargain.
