Castle Temperature?

#1 Post by Wadeshanley » April 4th, 2017, 1:16 pm

Ok, this is a new one. Reading the back of an Oregon Pinot bottle it says to serve at "Castle Temperature". I can guess it means cellar temp but if anyone knows otherwise let me know. Quick search came up with no reference to Castle temperature and wine.
Regards, Wade

My guess is that it simply means cool room temperature.

Ah but where?
Disambiguation... preferably in a damp Scottish castle.
"Room temperature" in Nort America Is usually way too warm for most wine.

Glamis Castle in Scotland, where pristine wine was found long ago, was 45-50 degrees, so I imagine the term implies colder than the usual cellar

Alan, it says serving temp, not storage. No one is going to serve a pinot at 45 degrees.

Maybe the OP should just call the winery and ask.

I was thinking of serving actually and room temperature around 18 or 19 degrees.
