Favorite Vermouth for a Manhattan....

What does this board say?

There’s probably a bunch of boutique ones I know nothing about, but I still use Martini and Rossi because that’s how my grandpa taught me.

Cocchi is my bar staple. Not quite as sweet (and almost half the price) as Antica, brighter than Dolan.

I go Antica. I’m worth it. And so are you.

I’ve taste-tested fresh bottles of the cheap brands twice and Cinzano won both times. But I would never say no to anything by Carpano or Cocchi if I am feeling flush…

If you are using poor whiskey or like your drinks particularly sweet, I’d agree.

I like antica formula and cocchi is a close second. I wish either or both were sold in .375 or smaller, especially the antica formula since it takes a while to go through a liter and even in the fridge I feel that they lose a step after being opened awhile.

I love Antica and Cocchi does not seem to be available in NY. I have not yet tried Dolan. I generally agree that most of the ‘big’ brands are crap.

I have good news for you - Carpano Antica Formula just introduced a 375ml bottle.

Sweet, I’ll be on the lookout for the .375!!
