I have been away from the What Beer Are You Drinking Thread for a while, so I thought I’d try to catch up by throwing this out there for those who want to play.
No need to tie folks to three specific categories so you can pick three styles and/or geographic producers of your choosing and list your top three in each. Thanks!
The BA Abraxas is pretty killer, as is their BA Sump Coffee stout. However, I prefer Side Project 3 Candles. Available in brewery or tasting room only, aged three years in 4 Roses barrels, 15% BV, and served still!
I’ve been on a Belgian inspired kick for a while. If any of the beers below are on the taplist I’m drinking.
Belgian Quad
Westvleteren 12
La Trappe Oak Aged (easily sourced locally)
St. Bernardus abt 12 (easily sourced, and close to the W as reportedly the same recipe but still not quite the same)
Double Mountain Tahoma Kriek (sour strong blond with Tahoma cherries)
Pfriem Strong Blonde (easy to find on the shelf in Oregon grocery stores)
Excellent Belgian Strong Golden’s you can find at a good beer store
Gulden Draak Brewmasters Edition
Brouwerij De Dolle Brouwers Stille Nacht
Brouwerij De Dolle Brouwers Boskeun
Double’s
Chimay Rouge (Première)
Maredsous 8° Brune
St Bernardus Prior 8
All of the Double Mountain Kriek’s should work for you, as long as you don’t mind moderately sour brews.
Don’t ignore Saison’s, such as:
Firestone Walker L’il Opal (fantastic!)
Pfriem Barrel Aged is a fantastic example as is their Super Saison (these may be very tough to find outside of Oregon).
Logsdon Seizoen Bretta
I read it as top 3 beers per category… I couldn’t settle on just 3 categories so I chose 4. I also wanted to make sure beers which most can source were included.
It’s winter so there are a couple of winter releases here. You pick the category because at least two of these don’t really fit any category folks would place them in normally.
Anchor Christmas Ale
Founders Breakfast Stout
Deschutes Red Chair - I haven’t actually bought any yet this season but I cannot wait. Easily my favorite release every year. I wish it was released in spring for summer.
