Highland Park is $42-ish at our local Total Wine. Really smooth....disappears quickly. Hard to beat in its price range.

Not a huge fan of scotch in that price pt but I would go with machir bay

Have you tried any of their 100% islay? I like the Machir, but am wondering if i should just eat the upcharge and go all the way

Yeah I have a bunch of their stuff; my favorite is sherry cask but there are quite a few great ones.

I like Aberlour 12 in that price range. Have noticed some variation, but the better bottles are excellent, assuming one likes a bit of sherry finish.

For like $75-$85 Aberlour Abunad'h is one of the best bangs for the buck out there IMO
