Good New Orleans Wine Stores?

Hey Wine Pimps,

Anyone know of some good wine stores in NOLA? I’ll be there in mid-August, so someplace with good AC would obviously be nice…
Cheers! [cheers.gif]

Martin’s Wine Cellar, done, full stop.

In the Quarter, I’m continuously impressed by Vieux Carre. Low markups and some great stuff. In May I got some 2002 Spottswoode Cab for $120 and they had 1998 Figeac for $150. Ask to see the back room for more gems (Diamond Creek, DRC, 1st Growths, etc.). The owners are really nice and friendly, allow some time for their stories.

If you’re talking close to the Quarter, then Martin’s, Vieux Carre and W.I.N.O. http://www.winoschool.com/.

Does the Quarter Martin’s have the depth of the Magazine street location?

+1. Really nice folks who will enjoy and entertain your inner wine geek.

I think that’s a little outside of the Quarter. I used to confuse Martin’s and Vieux Carre locations (because I’m typically not too clear headed when I’m walking through there!) So I’m probably mistaken that it’s close.

AWESOME. I’ll be in the Warehouse District right by the French Quarter, so I’ll be walking around and mobile and very very thirsty. If I have time between appointments I’ll pop into one of these places.

Don’t buy any brown bottles.
