Need some retail advice here. A professional acquaintance/friend in Birmingham recently did me a favor, and I’d like to send him a bottle of wine as a thank you gift. When I ordered a bottle from JJ Buckley, they told me I would have to fill out a form from the Alabama LCB and my friend would have to pay taxes at a local ABC store before the wine would be released to him. Needless to say, this is not very desirable – it would both ruin the surprise and cause my friend unwanted hassle. Are there any other options? Are there any other retailers who can ship direct to him without going through the LCB? If the answer is no, can anyone recommend a retailer in Birmingham who might be able to do local deliveries?
