Opening Day:

No, not at Fenway, and hopefully with better long run results.

We’re getting ready to open for retail and tasting on the 18th of June.

last tasks are borrowing a foil spinner, and assembling the signboards for placement along the roads in San Martin.
wine is fine, glasses ready, credit card machine checked out, tasting cards at printer etc.

Any words of non obvious advice?

congrats! [cheers.gif]

from my checklist:

  • make sure internet connection is working if you have a POS which relies on it
  • manual CC slips in case of computer/POS/CC machine related mishaps
  • change for the cash drawer
  • tape for receipt printer
  • tasting menus printed and double/triple checked for grammar, spelling, punctuation, and correct pricing
  • stands/holders for winery collateral
  • tech sheets (again, double & triple checked)
  • wine club signup forms (as necessary)
  • corkscrews, dump buckets, bar towels, pour spouts (if you’re using them)
  • pens, business cards
  • 2, 4, 6 bottle carriers for purchases

good luck!

  • Guest sign up book for emails, to get in touch with customers/clients via newletter and promotional bits.
  • lots and lots of pens… don’t be scrambling around for a pen last minute to sign people up newletters, credit card receipt, etc.
  • chill the whites, bring back up Coleman’s if needed.
  • napkins, paper towels, toilet paper, scratch paper and stcky pads
  • pre-sale sheets, or future sale sheets on orders that you run out of that same day… and will be able to deliver or have guests swing by and pick up the following week
  • sign with FB/Twitter/Blogspot directing people to your online store. Special events, future sales, wine info, producers, wine maker, vineyard info, etc, etc, etc… for anything pertinent to the store
  • say lots of prayers to whatever god or deity you admire. Put a bottle of good Brut Savage/Natural in the fridge, pour out a little for the homies and zap life back into your body after they’re all gone. Oh, and say, “Cheers!” At the end of it all.

Two days away… congrats! And GOOD LUCK!

Things went pretty smoothly, thanks for the inputs and good wishes.

Used 60 glasses, sold ~32 bottles, met 6 neighbors, many mail list signups, so far no one for wine club.

what are your wine club parameters?

we’re offering 25% discount, quarterly pickups.

how many bottles per shipment?
does the club member get to choose the wines for the quarterly shipment, or will you make that decision?
are you producing reds & whites? does the club member have an option to choose “reds only”?
do club members receive complimentary tastings?
any fees to join or cancel membership?
is there a minimum number of shipments the member must receive annually to stay in the club?

just trying to get an idea of what you’re offering with the questions above. as the wine club director for our winery, my goal is to make the club as simple as possible for the member to join, while offering value and benefits to coincide with membership.

Sorry, we’d send 2 bottles a quarter at the moment we have 1 white and 3 reds, more to release.
we’d choose
