Retailers, who's open today (Christmas)?

We’ve been fairly busy and you just CAN’T really even consider closing on a Saturday, can you? So far it’s mostly about Champagne / Prosecco with sides of “what’s good with Prime Rib?”…

We’re here until about 3:00. Been a few through but not a ballbuster. Mostly cigars . It’s pouring rain & windy, it’s not surprising it’s a little quiet.

Wine can’t be sold on Christmas in New York.

Thats just crazy. I had to look it up, and it is true. [shock.gif]
Bet you are glad it is the day AFTER Christmas if you live in NY.

Not only NY, but also CT & MA. Probably ME & NH as well, no idea on VT.

NJ can be open, but of course our friends at the PALCB have the day off so no sales in PA either.

Strangely, yesterday was quite busy and TODAY has been beyond dead…

Be glad. A lot of what goes on in retail on the 26th is returns and I have this visual of what that means for alcoholic beverages of any kind, and it’s not pretty. [vomit.gif]

We were opposite, yesterday was so-so and today was much better.
Fyi: no returns

Finally picked up after 5pm with people buying Champagnes for NYE and other parties.

Bar is dead though, maybe 10 people all night. But Wednesday we have over 90 reservations for our Bubbly and Lobster night.

One return all day: a mixed 12 pac of beer given to a guy who is now on the wagon. He traded it for Orgasmo de la Boca Smoked Olives.

If someone is keeping tabs on stores in States that can’t be open on Christmas, add TX to the list.

We cannot sell on Christmas Day in Colorado, either. Actually, I kind of like that. We just do that much more on Christmas Eve and all of the staff get to relax with their families on Christmas Day.

@Roberto…I love your Lobster and Bubbly idea. My dying meal would be simple steamed lobster and a Grande Marque Champagne.

We did over 75 guests last night for Lobster & Bubbly nite with only 42 chairs. It was a BLAST.

Here’s what we poured:

Aperitif: F. Dulac Blanc de Blanc Brut , Bordeaux

Cà Furlan Prosecco Cuvée Beatrice, Veneto
Classic Extra Dry (meaning a little fruity) Prosecco with full pressure.

Col Saliz Prosecco Servo Suo Argento, Veneto
VERY special: made from late harvest grapes giving it a huge ripe pear blast.

Brut de Charvis Méthode Traditionnelle, Borgogne
Our #1 bubbly for years: Chardonnay / Pinot / Aligote in a rich, toasty blend.

Mayerling Cremant d’Alsace Brut
Mostly Pinot with considerable time on the lees, a real value leader.

Gardet Premier Cru Blanc de Noirs, Chigny-les-Roses
Pinots Noir et Meunier from the heart of Champagne. Dry, elegant, fun.

Arunda Riserva Millesimato 2006, Alto Adige
60 / 40 Chard / Pinot with over three years on the lees. SERIOUS!

Gosset Grande Réserve Brut, Äy
The multi-vintage tête de cuvée of the oldest Champagne house (since 1540!).

Le Manzane Próseo Rosé Brut, Veneto
Fun in a bottle: Prosecco with a skoonch of Reboso for color and aromatics.

André Robert Brut Rosé Grand Cru Les Mesnil Oger
Racy, perfumed, sexy…proof that Rosé Champagne is serious wine.

Canals Canals Rosat Reserva Brut Nature
Garnacha meets Monastrell (Mourvedre): meaty, beaty, big and bouncy!
