Why do French bureaucrats hate wine so much?

No QR code for disgorgement and dosage info on Champagne labels “because of the children”:

I have a better question. Why are bureaucrats everywhere so concerned about the children? newhere

Also, someone should tell the French bureaucrats that the internet might have some info about alcohol. I haven’t actually checked in the last 2 seconds, but I’m fairly certain I’m correct. pileon

The counter argument should be that the code discourages under age drinking. The kid has to have the bottle in his grubby little hands to scan the code, and looking up the code increases the chance that the kid will get distracted from opening the bottle by reading about the wine and then continuing to surf until he finds some interesting porn on his phone.

Mike - I think the kids down in GA are a little less sophisticated than the kids in France.

See, the kids in France may look at the disgorgement date and decide that the wine sucks based on the disgorgement date. After all, their little palates are quite refined by the time they start school. Rejecting the Champagne, the kids may decide to drink sherry instead. This will harm the French wine industry grievously.

I don’t think politicians are so concerned with kids as much as they’re concerned with the effect those kids will have on industries that are so tied to national security. It’s directly related to the survival of France as a country.

In the US of course, thank god the kids can’t even spell disgorgement, much less tell you what it means in relation to wine, so the risk is lower.

As kids in SC we knew what disgorgement meant. It is what we usually did after we drank too much cheap beer and wine and ate too many moon pies
