2006 A.P. Vin Pinot Noir Keefer Ranch Vineyard - USA, California, Sonoma County, Russian River Valley (5/6/2014)
Disappointed by Andrew’s 2006 Kanzer, I decided to open the 2006 Keefer for sake of comparison. I let it sit for about 30 minutes, swirling occasionally. The wine was brighter and fresher than the Kanzler, displaying notes of candied orange peel, rhubarb, strawberries, raspberries, and a hint what I can only describe as cheddar cheese. The finish did seem a little bitter, however, and had overtones of cherry cough drops. The acid also seemed a bit too intense. But a much more enjoyable wine than his other one from RRV. (88 pts.)
