2006 A.P. Vin Pinot Noir Kanzler Vineyard - USA, California, Sonoma County, Sonoma Coast (5/3/2014)
At 15.4% abv, this wine is overdone, IMO. Too much alcohol and extraction. Jammy notes of cherry compote, cherry cola, macerated figs, and plum jam. The acid additions help, especially when paired with food, but the wine seems clunky and angular, the components unintegrated, the finish bitter. That said, it was still quite drinkable, especially with food, and after being open for several of hours, much more enjoyable. But not a finesse wine by any means. (83 pts.)
