2007 Saxum Heart Stone Vineyard - USA, California, Central Coast, Paso Robles (4/2/2014)
This wine is still too young to drink IMO. Displays notes of spiced blackberry, plum, peppercorns, and grilled meat; but honestly, the fruit is too bright and the tannins are too unyielding to fully enjoy, unless of course you are eating something really rich and fatty, in which case this wine will cut through it like a chainsaw. Let it sit in a decanter for several hours (I would do at least 2-3) or wait another couple of years before opening up a bottle. The quality is here, to be sure, but do yourself a favor and wait. 91-92. (91 pts.)
